I talked with the car clubs manager of AutoFair and Charlotte Motor Speedway.  They’ve had a management change at the speedway and several decisions were made by them concerning both the spring and fall AutoFair shows.

They want all clubs to show both Saturday and Sunday and to fill all slots allotted to that club.  If we can’t commit to that, then we will have to resign from participation.  In other words, we’re being dropped.  And being dropped was more my decision than theirs.  We now have a difficult time filling all slots for Saturday much less both days.  Many of you drive a long distance for the show.  To ask you to either drive back and forth both days with gas approaching $3.75 here or to spend the money for a hotel is not a reasonable request.

I’m sorry this had to happen.  We’ve participated in the AutoFair shows for about 10 years now.  We’ve had as many as 32 cars at the show.  This is one of the premier shows we participate in twice annually.  There is the possibility of you joining one of the Mopar clubs if you care to continue to participate in AutoFair but it will have to be a two full day commitment.

AutoFair at Lowes Motor Speedway is a twice yearly event and is preplanned years in advance by the Hornets Nest Chapter of the Antique Automobile Association.  It is a rain or shine event.  This is being posted so that future events in the planning stage do not conflict or overlap with it. The dates shown are Thursday through Sunday which is the whole event.  Car clubs will show only on the Saturday and Sunday event days.
