SEA CRUISE 2008  -  Royal Caribbean's Mariner of the Seas

December 14th to 21st, 2008

We are up to about 15 cabins booked as of January 2008

Another Sea Cruise has been planned.  The RCCL Mariner of the Seas is one of those "mega-ships", one of the largest in the Caribbean.  Multiple bars and restaurants such as Johnny Rockets, Portofino's, Chops just to name a few.  A Skating rink, full size basketball court, putt putt, rock climbing wall, a full sized shopping mall and more are on board.

For this cruise, the ship will be decorated for Christmas.  I understand it is spectacular.

This cruise sails from Port Canaveral FL which is about 45 miles east of Orlando.  It is a 7 day, Sunday to Sunday cruise.  Labadee, Haiti is Royal Caribbean's private island.  No other ships or people will be there other than us.  Private beaches, bar, food, all ours, just for us!  Be sure to check out the RCCL website for more details on this cruise and this mega-ship, one of the largest cruise ships in the world.

There are secure areas to park at the port at Port Canaveral if you drive.  Not sure of the parking fee but it is probably in the $12 to $15 per day range.  If you fly, you will need to fly into Orlando.  Port Canaveral is about 45 miles east of Orlando.  There are shuttle buses running from Orlando airport to the port.  Cost runs from $40.00 to $60.00 each way per person.  Check with Jennifer at AAA about buses and passes.  If you decide to go in early, there are an abundance of hotels in the area and some may run shuttle buses to the port.  Check with your hotel.

PASSPORT INFO

Passports will absolutely positively be required for ANY travel outside of the US effective January 01 2008.  No longer can you travel with a birth certificate and drivers license.  YOU ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE A PASSPORT.

Please do not wait to get one.  I've heard reports of people getting theirs in 3 weeks but the TV and papers report that it can take as much as 4 months.  Due to the over abundance of people applying for passports, that office is running terribly behind.  Passports are good for 10 years.  Go ahead and get it now and get that behind you.  That'll be one less thing to worry about.

No longer is it a wishy-washy thing like on the last cruise.  The government has set a drop-dead date of January 01 2008 for all travel outside of the US requiring a passport.  ALL TRAVEL outside the USA will require one as of January 01 2008.
